Trophy buck? Not quite.

West Salem, Ill., native Richard Lomas shot this 30-point whitetail at Richard Knackmuhs Farm near Olney, Ill., over the weekend.

What makes this deer so special? It’s a female. That’s right, a 30-point non-typical doe. Talk about your freaks of nature.

“I would say that’s the biggest, baddest doe ever taken in Illinois,” Tim Walmsley, author of Trophy Whitetails of Illinois, told the told Heartland Outdoors.. “Mike Lock had a big 23-pointer with no beams in Fulton County years ago that was a lot like this one. But this one has even more stuff. Bass Pro Shops owns the Lock deer.”

Locals estimated the deer to be somewhere between 4 1/2 years old. The doe also featured a drop antler still in velvet and did not appear to have ever given birth.

What do you think? Is this the weirdest whitetail you’ve ever seen?

TOO BAD ( AND IM NOT QUEASY) THE REPORTER WASNT PRO NUFF TO REMOVE OR HAVE THE BLOOD REMOVED IT WOULD OF BEEN MORE BEFITTING TO THE PIC. DOUBTFUL THIS DOE COULD CONCEIVE OR EVEN COME INTO ESTRUS.

We had a 5×5 doe in deer camp at Evans Washington last year, I didn't realize they were so common. I've hunted 50 years in four states and that's the first one I ever saw.

Well, I can see from most of the comments here that there does not seem to be one of you that is a hunter. It is people like you that make hunting look back from you stupid ass remarks. Why don't you find something more productive to do with your time? The few decent comments I apologize to those people but the rest suck it up.

  • Tracy

Very impressive and yes I too can see we have some non hunters posting. Antlered doe are rare but not unheard of. I say kudos to the lucky hunter and thanks a million for the pics that's truly a deer of a lifetime!!!!

  • logan lomas

    Way to go uncle Richard

  • BuckHunter

Not too difficult understanding why she never gave birth. Either not equipped or a buck just never found her rack to be attractive.
