Melissa Bachman: Best Bow Hunts in North America

by Melissa Bachman   |  November 11th, 2011 7

Although it’s hard to nail down my top five species, it really wasn’t that hard to come up with my top five bow hunts in North America.  These are hunts that truly stand out for one reason or another.

5. Montana Whitetails

Montana 152-Inch Whitetail with Powder River Outfitters

If you’re looking for one of the most target rich environments in the country, Montana should be your No. 1 destination. I’ve been hunting the Powder River country for a couple years now and had some of the best whitetail and mule deer hunts possible. In Montana, your tag is good for any deer, so usually I spend the mornings and evenings hunting whitetails from a tree stand in the river bottoms, then scour the hills for shade midday looking for bedded mule deer. The bucks are in abundant supply and big, but my favorite part has been the friends I’ve made at Power River Outiftters. They run an incredible camp and have some of the best guides that I’ve ever hunted with.
