ACR Announces New Service
By Mike Schoby

As a frequent backcountry traveler, I make it a practice to carry a personal locator beacon (PLB) in my pack at all times. A bush flight goes down, you get lost, or have an accident...a responder is only a push of the button away. As good as this system is, ACR just made it better. A new subscriber service, with additional and unique ACR features, has been launched for ACR product owners called 406Link.com.

The new service will not only provide a pin-point a location within a 100 meters for rescue, but will also confirm your beacon is working properly and offer users the ability to send an "I'm Okay" text message to loved ones.

The SafeLife/406Link.com coverage includes North and South American landmasses and most of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans including Hawaii, allowing both beacon owners on land as well as those at sea to use the service. Unlike cell phones and two-way radios, the system utilizes two geosynchronous GEOSAR satellites to provide dependable coverage.

The New Bushnell Fusion 1600 ARC Binoculars Combine Quality Optics With Laser Range Finding Capability
With 15 years of laser rangefinder experience combined with over 60 years of optics ingenuity Bushnell introduces the new Fusion 1600 ARC range finding binoculars. This device combines quality optics with the latest in laser range finding technology into one easy to carry package. The 10x42 binoculars feature BAK-4 roof prisms, built-in battery life indicator, twist-up eyepieces, and fully multi-coated optics with RainGuard HD coating, fully waterproof and submersible to meet IPX7 waterproof specification. The built in laser rangefinder will measure distances from 10-1600 yards. It features ARC (Angle Range Compensating) technology, which calculates the angle to the target and gives the “hold over” range for the rifle shooter, and true horizontal distance for bow hunters. There is a brush mode for measuring distances in heavy cover and a bullseye mode for ranging in open areas. An additional key feature in the Fusion 1600 ARC is the Variable Sight-In Distance capability or VSI. In rifle mode, users can select between 100,150, 200 or 300-yard sight-in distances to accommodate their shooting styles and preferences. They can also choose between Inches and MOA for holdover on longer shots. The range of angle measurement is -90 to +90 degrees. The display employs state-of-the-art Vivid Display Technology for improved light transmission and resolution, high contrast, four user adjustable intensity settings resulting in legible distance readings in low light conditions: $899; www.bushnell.com

HEAT FACTORY
Innovative New Boxed Warmer Pack Keeps Enthusiasts Warm Outdoors, Anytime…Anywhere
The warmer a hunter is when sitting tight in a tree stand, the longer he or she can patiently wait for the chance to tow home a trophy. That’s why Heat Factory has conveniently prepared hunters for the frosty mornings and clear, cold nights at camp with its new-for-2010 Heat Factory Great Outdoors Warmer Pack. This conveniently packaged, three-day supply of heat warmers contains 46 individual warmers each distinctively designed for a specific body part. Twelve pairs of Heat Factory Hand Warmers are perfect for keeping trigger fingers warm and steady for up to ten hours each. Six large versatile Heat Factory Body Warmers will keep any body part warm by generating a whopping twenty hours of heat each. These body warmers can also be tossed into your sleeping bag for a warm nights rest or slipped into clothing pockets for all-day warmth in the field. The Heat Factory Great Outdoors Warmer Pack will melt away any concerns about packing enough warmers for the duration of your hunt. This innovative boxed-set is perfect for any hunting trip — from bow to rifle — and can easily be thrown into your gear bag on the way out the door. Great outdoor enthusiasts (and their chattering teeth) will be relieved with this box of security in their gear bag — knowing that their focus in the tree stand will once again be on their prey, and not on keeping warm. HECS Defeating The 6th Sense In Game Animals - Human Energy Concealment Systems –HECS
The heart of the technology actually begins with just that –The Heart. HECS engineers made a breakthrough discovery by proving that most game animals can actually sense the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) that is known it be emitted from all humans. EMR has now been scientifically proven to be the cause of many of the negative reactions hunter’s see by game animals.

Commonly referred to as the 6th sense, hunters have long been tormented by the game animal’s uncanny ability to detect the presence of hunters and avoid harvest. HECS 6th Sense apparel line features Energy Cloak fabric which blocks the majority of the EMR emitted by the human body, there by greatly increasing the hunters effectiveness in staying undetected by all types of big game, game birds and waterfowl. The basic line features a complete suit including lightweight pant, shirt, and head net in NEXT camo (other camo patterns will be available in 2010). These garments can be worn as either an outerwear or underwear, and are extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear in either application.

Petersen's does it's subscriber base a disservice by publishing this sort of cheerleading regurgitation of vendor marketing hype with absolutely no critical analysis thereof. Most glaringly is the "Human Energy Concealment Systems" nonsense published above. The claims made by the company regarding their product have been repeatedly shown to be completely baseless, and they have even been exposed as falsely attributing various "scientific" statements to research publication from which they did NOT come. The product is an obvious scam, and Petersen's is promoting it...either willingly, or as a result of a failure to perform even a minimum of due dilligence.
