What's New In Rifles 2010

The 2010 SHOT Show is underway in Las Vegas, NV at the Sands Expo. Here's a quick shot look at some of the rifles that could find their way into your gun locker soon.

THOMPSON/CENTER
The T/C Venture has an offspring - the T/C Venture Predator. As the name would indicate, the Predator is chambered in your favorite critter gitter calibers: .204 Ruger, .223 Rem., .22-250 Rem., and .308 Win. As with other T/C Ventures, the Venture Predator features match grade 22-inch fluted barrels with 5R rifling, Hogue rubber inlays, stealthy Max 1 Predator Camo, a weather shield bolt handle and an adjustable trigger (3.5-5 LBS). Capacity is 3+1 and all calibers weigh in at a reasonable 6 3/4 pounds.

CZ USA
From the "This will please Craig Boddington" file, CZ USA is now offering its CZ 550 Safari Magnum in a left-handed configuration. Available in .375 H&H, the Safari magnum features express sights, a hammer forged barrel, and a single-set trigger (which I bet doesn't get set if the tusker is charging from the brush). Weighing 9.4 pounds, the "Lefty" has a five round capacity.

MOSSBERG
The term "budget friendly" when discussing Mossberg centerfire rifles doesn't really apply as all of their firearms would fall under the "reasonable" to "that's a steal" category. The 4x4, featuring the LBA adjustable trigger system has been upgraded. The rifle now features a 24-inch fluted barrel with a muzzlebrake. The model I looked (pictured) was the sculpted stock/laminate model and is available in nine different calibers.

SAVAGE
"Accurate" and "Durable" would be the two terms that best sum up the Savage Model 11 Long Range Hunter. If you want to tote something into the woods that will take a licking but still get the job done when the boiler room presents itself, this is the gun for you. Featuring a 26-inch fluted barrel, Accu-Stock/Accu-Trigger, adjustable muzzlebrake, Karsten adjustable comb, hinged floorplate and is available in 6.5 x 284 Norma, .25-06 Remington, 7mm Rem. Mag., and .300 Win. Mag.
