BERETTA
The A400 Xplor Unico is new semi-auto from Beretta that allows the "possibility of shooting all loads, from 7/8 to 2 1/4 ounces, with the same performance typical of a high-performance competition shotgun." There are a multitude of out-of-the-box features that make this possible. "Blink" is termed as the new engine of the A400 Xplor, which integrates the Beretta gas system with the rotating bold head lock-up and new feeding system. The gas system features a piston with a self-cleaning elastic scraper band that also functions as a gasket. Marketing materials claim the Xplor Unico is 36 percent faster than any other semi-auto and has the ability to shoot four rounds in less than a second.
The Kick-Off recoil reduction system uses two hydraulic dampers (similar to what you'd find in automobile suspensions) in the stock and a third damper in the grip area to combat the 2nd recoil peak, which occurs at the impact of the bolt against the receiver at the end of its travel. Combine that with the Micro Core recoil pad, an open cell technopolymer, and felt recoil is (according to Beretta literature) 70 percent less then the nearest competitor.
The Optima-Bore HP barrel features Steelium technology, which marries specific Beretta Ni/Cr/Mo steel, deep hole drilling, cold hammering and vacuum distension.
Needless to say, there will be a much more in-depth review of the A400 Xplor Unico with all of its features, bells and whistles. Stay tuned...
