ANOKA, Minnesota – March 17, 2025 – Federal Ammunition recently launched new additions to its HEAVYWEIGHT TSS turkey load lineup. The two new factory loads are 28-gauge in 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch, No. 9 shot and are currently being delivered to retailers nationwide.
HEAVYWEIGHT TSS 28-Gauge “With HEAVYWEIGHT TSS, turkey hunters can have confidence in the effectiveness of sub-gauge offerings at the edge of extreme ranges, including 28-gauge,” said Federal’s Shotshell Product Line Manager Josh Vickers. “For several years, we have offered a 28-gauge, 2 3/4-inch turkey load option in our Custom Shop. But for 2025, we are loading factory loads in HEAVYWEIGHT TSS for 28-gauge. These will be in 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch, featuring No. 9 TSS shot.”
Federal Premium HEAVYWEIGHT TSS tungsten-alloy shot material’s 18 g/cc density is 56 percent more than lead, resulting in the highest pellet counts and the most energy at extreme range. Its rear-braking FLITECONTROL FLEX wad performs flawlessly through ported and standard turkey chokes for consistent, deadly patterns.
Other features include a roll crimp and over-shot card that keeps buffering material in place and full-length wads that prevent direct contact between the extra-hard pellets and the bore, protecting the barrel. Plus, a portion of the proceeds are donated to the National Wild Turkey Federation.
