Think moose charges aren't a big deal? Ask TV host Steve Rinella what he thinks and you might get a different opinion.
While hunting moose with a guide in British Columbia, Rinella, host of Sportsman Channel's MeatEater , shot a bull moose and proceeded to track it. That's when things got interesting.
Rinella approached the downed moose for a final kill shot, but when he pulled the trigger the round didn't go off. Instead, a loud "click" spooked the bull and sent it in Rinella's direction. Watch the dramatic scene that followed:

"That's the stupidest thing I've ever done and I'll never do it again," Rinella said, reflecting on the incident. "But here, now, as a guy who's not messed up [from the charge], I'm so glad it happened. It just wakes you up. You just got charged by a moose."
As Rinella learned firsthand, this incident reminds us all to put safety first and to keep a reasonable distance from wounded game. It's also why you always bring a second gun into situations like that. You never know what can happen.
Watch MeatEater Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT, exclusively on Sportsman Channel .
