Yankee Candle, the company responsible for tricking our wives and girlfriends into thinking bathrooms need to smell like Bahama Breeze since 1969, just came out with an interesting guy-oriented marketing ploy: Man Candles.
It's all about a line of scents catered to the sophisticated nostrils of the American male. "We wanted to develop a collection of scents that men could strongly identify with," said Senior Vice President Hope Margala Klein.
Imagine the thick aroma of "Riding Mower" or "2x4" wafting through your living room or a bathroom that smells like "Man Town." It's almost like a dream, isn't it? Well, these fine scents are now reality. Check them out:

- Man Town™ — Escape to the man cave with this masculine blend of spices, woods and musk.
- First Down™ — This combination of orange, patchouli, vetiver and leather is as exciting as game day.
- Riding Mower™ — Hot sun. Cool breeze. And the intensely summery scent of freshly cut grass.

- 2 x 4™ — The warm, unmistakable scent of freshly planed wood and sawdust evokes a sense of confidence and quality.
Who ever thought "First Down" could be a scent? I didn't, but we all know this candle's definitely more likely to show up in hunting camp than "First Kiss."
Here's a logical question for outdoorsmen: When are they going to makes scents catered to us?
I for one would love to light the wick on a candle that made my house smell like freshly fired shotgun shells or the leather on a brand new holster. Maybe we could develop a candle that smells like "Deadline" for outdoor writers, so at least they could never say they didn't smell it coming.
What scents would you include in a line of hunting candles?
