Traditionally speaking, muzzleloaders have leaned towards the heavier side when it comes to firearm weight. Traditions Performance Firearms is looking to break with that tradition with its new Pursuit Ultralight muzzleloader, which weighs a scant 5.15 lbs., a gun the company is touting as the lightest smokepole in the world.
Despite being diet-sized, The Pursuit Ultralight still offers all of the features you'd expect in a front loader. The rifle is a break-action gun that features a 26-inch chromoly steel fluted barrel offering 1:28-inch twist rifling with a CeraKote finish. Look for a Speed Load System, Williams fiber optic sights, and the Accelerator Breech Plug, which is a tool-free plug that can be removed with three full rotations. The rifle uses a 209 shotgun primer ignition and is drilled and tapped for glass up top.
Additionally, the Pursuit Ultralight features a dual safety system, which allows for two safeties: a trigger block safety built into the trigger guard and a secondary internal hammer block safety, which stops the hammer from engaging the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.

And as light as this gun is on the sling, the price isn't all that heavy either. You can add this rig to your gun safe by dropping $295 to $435 depending on the model. Some of the nine different configurations include a 3-9x40 scope with medium rings and bases (pictured: Pursuit UltraLight .50 cal MO Treestand/Premium Cerakote) while others feature a thumbhole stock.
