The Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatachee National Wildlife Refuge has announced new hunting opportunities for folks interested in hunting whitetail deer and wild hogs in the 2021-2022 season. Permits will be issued randomly through a one-week application period that closes June 28, 2021 (the end of this week).
After Phase I of the application process is completed, all additional permits will come on a first-come, first-served basis starting July 1. There will be two separate opportunities for folks who are interested in applying: one this summer, and one this winter.
1. Strazzulla Archery and Crossbow Deer and Wild Hog Hunt Strazzulla is a 2,586-acre wildlife area that is full of opportunities to hunt both whitetail deer and wild hogs. This particular hunt is scheduled for August 6-8, 2021. The state wildlife department has warned that hunters should be ready and willing to travel numerous miles while hunting. Be smart and come prepared; Florida heat and humidity is nothing to joke about.
Both a license and a permit will be required, and refuge entrance fees will still apply.

2. Loxahatchee Refuge Interior Deer and Wild Hog Hunt This particular opportunity is scheduled for December 3-5, 2021 within the 141,000 acres of Everglade habitat of the Loxahatchee N.W.R. Rifles, shotguns, pistols, muzzleloaders, pre-charged pneumatic airguns, crossbows or bows are all permitted weapons, so the options are wide open. The FWC warns folks that over 99% of the N.W.R.'s land is open to permitted hunting and that all who attend should contact the Loxahatchee NWR for the best safety and information.
Once again, both a license and a permit will be required, and refuge entrance fees will still apply. Contact the Florida FWC for further information.
