It’s one thing to set a world record, but when you blow the previous high mark out of the water, it’s a testament to the hours of practice and lifetime of dedication it takes to compete at the highest levels. That’s what five shotgun shooters proved when they set a new Guinness World Book record for the most sporting clay targets shot in 12-hour period by a five-person team. By breaking a total of 14,176 clays in a 12-hour period, Team CZ-USA bested the previous world record by an amazing 9,574 targets.

"This new world record took a great deal of practice, commitment and concentration," said David Miller, Team CZ-USA leader and CZ-USA’s shotgun manager. "And these young shooters never faltered! I'm very proud of these young people and their stellar work ethic. This new world record could not have been set without their dedication to excellence."

The CZ-USA Team was made of Miller and four youth shotgunners who were selected based on their application essays submitted to CZ-USA. Each applicant also had participated in an A.I.M. or SCTP competitive shotgun shooting qualifier event.

Along with Miller, the four record-setting shotgunners were:

  • Levi Henrichs; Sibley, Iowa
  • Makayla Scott; White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
  • Jessica Strasser; Waterford, Wisconsin
  • Weston Zolck; Herman, Nebraska

This was an Official Guinness World Records attempt, and the previous Guinness record for most sporting clays shot by a five-person team in 12 hours was 4,602 targets. The new record was set at the Powder Creek Shooting Park in Lenexa, Kansas, October 12, 2019.

"We had an enthusiastic crowd on hand, and they really cheered us on," Miller added. "Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and to our sponsors. You made a huge difference!"

Since 1997, CZ-USA has given American shooters and hunters the best firearms the Czech Republic has to offer. In 2019, CZ completed yet another milestone by producing CZ firearms here in the United States at CZ-USA's Kansas City, Kansas, facility. With an ever-increasing production capabilities stateside, CZ-USA will continue to improve, innovate, and add to the CZ-USA line-up of high-quality, affordable handguns, rifles, shotguns, and suppressors, plus custom-quality handguns from Dan Wesson.
